Turmeric

Turmeric is widely used as a natural flavoring and coloring agent in food applications and is a principal ingredient in curry powder. Turmeric oleoresin is commonly used in brine pickles and, to a limited extent, in formulations such as mayonnaise, relishes, non-alcoholic beverages, gelatins, butter, and cheese. Curcuma color, extracted from turmeric, is utilized as a natural food colorant.

Beyond food applications, turmeric is used as a natural dye in the textile industry. It is also employed in the preparation of medicinal oils, ointments, and poultices in traditional and herbal formulations. Turmeric is traditionally recognized for its stomachic, carminative, tonic, antiseptic, and blood-purifying properties.

In addition, turmeric is used in cosmetic formulations, while its aqueous extracts are known to exhibit biopesticidal properties, supporting applications in agricultural and environmental uses.
